Real Weddings: Deborah and Abid's Peach Pink Wedding
When:
July 14, 2012
Where:
Palais Royale along the Lakeshore in Toronto, Ontario
I remember waking up at my parent’s place in my old bedroom and taking a deep breath… today was the day! It was 5:30am and the house was silent except for the rapid beating of my heart. While I was excited, I was also nervous. I literally had 5 minutes to myself before all hell would break loose and after quickly running through how the day’s events would flow, I let it go and was surprisingly calm!
The most memorable moment was listening to my husband saying the vows that he wrote himself in front of 200+ people. It was at that moment that I realized how lucky I was to be spending the rest of my life with a man who loved me unconditionally.
After months of planning and all of the crazy antics and emotions that come along with the planning process, I could really just sit back and watch the day unfold. While the full day is a bit of a blur in my mind, there are a few key things that really stand out. For example, My husband who isn’t known for his extroverted ways, blew me away by writing his own vows. In addition, the tea ceremony and speeches are still vivid in my mind where family and friends had such kind and heartfelt words for us; wishing us a lifetime of love and happiness! But the best part of all? Wrapping up the formalities of the day and enjoying our amazing bartenders who put on a show for the crowds and our DJ who knew exactly the playlist to get us all out on the dance floor.
I really couldn’t have asked for more! My support team of family and friends went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure everything ran smoothly and what a success it was! From the beautiful cake my older sister created to the slideshow my sister-in-law creatively put together, to my baby sister keeping us all on track, to the rest of my bridesmaids helping with wardrobe changes and malfunctions, to the groomsmen keeping family drama in check… everything just came together!
I chose Henkaa because the dress had everything I was looking for. It was reasonably priced, came in a variety of colours that could easily match my wedding décor, and most importantly, it was a dress that didn’t scream “bridesmaid dress”. It was something my girls could wear time and again that really wouldn’t go out of style. And the icing on the cake was the fact that the girls could take advantage of it being a convertible dress and really make it their own; be as creative as they wanted and just simply have fun with it. They just couldn’t go wrong; everyone looked gorgeous!

Fun fact: Deborah is Julia’s sister (Julia also shared her bridal story with us!) and they had their weddings a week apart to facilitate travel plans so that their BIG extended family could attend both weddings.
